This energy expenditure (and GHG emissions) includes transportation, heating & cooling and electricity for residents, businesses and the municipality. Connecticut's clean energy goals call for us to reduce these GHG emissions to under 3 tons by 2040.
These energy sources include those used directly by the town (e.g., heating & transportation) as well as sources that power the electric grid (e.g., gas, nuclear).
One gigawatt-hour (GWh) represents the amount of energy produced over one hour by a power source with a capacity of one gigawatt (GW), or a billion watts.
